Woman Allegedly Murders 4-Year-Old Son to Satisfy Lover’s Condition for Marriage

In a harrowing incident that has left the Karlo community reeling, a 23-year-old woman, Akua Afriyie, has confessed to killing her four-year-old son by throwing him into a well, allegedly to fulfill the demands of a man she hoped to marry.

The shocking event occurred on Saturday, July 21, 2025. According to local authorities, Afriyie admitted during police interrogation that she committed the act to eliminate her child from a previous relationship, as her romantic partner had reportedly made it a condition for marriage.

Speaking to reporters, the Assembly Member for the Karlo Electoral Area, Eric Armah, disclosed that Afriyie returned to the community after a period of absence, under the pretense of visiting. However, it was later revealed that her intention was to carry out the heinous act away from the scrutiny of her current residence.

According to investigators, the child—aware of the threat to his life—begged his mother not to kill him. Afriyie initially reassured the boy, only to later follow through with her plan. She allegedly led him to a nearby well and pushed him in.

Local authorities were alerted soon after, and the police took over the case. The body of the child has been retrieved and transported to the Enchi Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow in the Karlo community. Residents say they are struggling to come to terms with the senseless killing, particularly given the innocence and helplessness of the victim.

Police investigations are ongoing. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
