The Ogun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, in a joint operation with the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), has arrested a notorious and wanted criminal suspect, Usman Abdullahi, popularly known as AK, in Ijebu-Ode.
The suspect, a native of Lumbasa Local Government Area of Katsina State, had been on the watchlist of multiple security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, over his alleged involvement in stealing, aiding kidnappers, cult activities, and other violent crimes.
According to Deputy Commander of Amotekun Corps, Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence that revealed his presence near the So-Safe Corps office in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday.
Items recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest include:
- One locally made pistol
- A knife
- Two ice bunkers
- Lighters
- A waist charm believed to be for protection or occult purposes
The suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation to being a member of the Eiye confraternity, and admitted his role in multiple thefts and aiding kidnapping operations within the state.
Usman Abdullahi has since been handed over to the Obalende Police Division along with the recovered exhibits for further investigation and prosecution.
“This successful operation underscores the growing strength of collaboration between Amotekun, So-Safe Corps, and other security agencies in tackling crime in Ogun State,” Bakare said
He commended the swift action and bravery of the officers involved and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, noting that the fight against insecurity requires a collective community effort.
