Little Chukwuebuka Amaechi, a bright and loving 9-year-old boy, is battling for his life after being diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (CKD Stage V).
His medical journey began in May 2024 when he was first diagnosed with Steroid Resistant Nephrotic Syndrome (SRNS) at LASUTH, Ikeja. Despite months of medication and hospital visits, his condition deteriorated.
By May 21, 2025, Chukwuebuka was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Emergency Unit with severe body swelling, breathlessness, and inability to urinate. After a series of tests, doctors confirmed severe acute kidney injury, and later gave the final diagnosis: End Stage Renal Disease.
Doctors at LUTH have recommended an urgent kidney transplant, the only option to save Chukwuebuka’s life.
His father, Ekwefi Amaechi, has already spent N2 million on dialysis but they now need N37 million for the transplant and associated care.
“We are desperate. I am appealing to Nigerians and anyone touched by Chukwuebuka’s story to help us. Every little support counts,” his father pleads.
