A recent graduate of Kwara State Polytechnic, identified as Wuraola (surname withheld), has been reportedly stabbed to death just six days after completing her final examinations. The incident, which occurred around 7:00 PM on Monday evening, has left the Ilorin community in shock, with authorities now searching for the prime suspect, her elder sister, Adunni, who is currently on the run.
According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary police reports, Wuraola and her sister Adunni, who shared a residence in Ilorin, were involved in a heated argument that escalated into physical violence. During the altercation, Adunni allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab her younger sister.
The cause of the dispute remains unclear at the time of reporting. Sources close to the family have described the situation as “unthinkable,” citing no previous history of violence between the sisters.
Residents of the area reported that after the stabbing, Adunni allegedly refused to take Wuraola to the hospital despite her severe injuries and significant blood loss. A concerned neighbor ultimately intervened and, along with a friend, attempted to save the victim by sourcing emergency blood supplies.
Despite these efforts, Wuraola succumbed to her injuries. Medical personnel confirmed that the loss of blood and the severity of the wound contributed to her death.
Shortly after the incident, Adunni reportedly packed a bag and fled the scene. Her current whereabouts are unknown. The Kwara State Police Command has launched a manhunt and is calling on members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the suspect.
Police spokesperson SP Ajayi Okasanmi (or use real name if available) stated:
“This is a deeply tragic case. We have launched a full investigation and are committed to ensuring that justice is served. Anyone with information about the suspect’s location is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.”
Wuraola had recently completed her academic program at Kwara State Polytechnic and had signed out just days before the incident, a traditional ceremony marking the end of a student's academic journey. Friends and classmates have expressed their grief online, describing her as vibrant, hardworking, and full of promise.
As investigations continue, the community remains in mourning, grappling with the loss of a young life taken in its prime.
