TikToker Fatally Shot During Livestream in Ecuador; Suspect on the Run

A 28-year-old woman, Keyla Andreina González Mercado, was fatally shot while livestreaming on TikTok in an incident that has shocked viewers and local authorities. The suspect, believed to be her friend’s partner, is currently at large.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 26, inside González’s home in Guayaquil, where she was socializing with a close friend and the suspect, identified as Manuel Andrés Lava Lázaro. During the livestream, González appeared to make light-hearted remarks to the suspect, challenging him to shoot her, allegedly in jest. Moments later, two gunshots were heard, and González collapsed on camera.

According to police, the suspect had been present at the gathering, where alcohol was being consumed. In the final moments of the livestream, González can be heard saying: “Shoot me twice, I beg you, but later; let me get drunk… You’ll hit me in the head twice; you’ll kill me in one go. I don’t want to suffer.” Her friend, who was sitting nearby, repeatedly said “no” before the shots were fired.

After the shooting, the livestream was stopped by the friend, who then rushed to alert González’s family. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle and has not yet been apprehended. Police have launched a manhunt and are actively investigating the incident.

A family member told local media that the suspect was not well known to them and had only been seen in passing. Descriptions provided to investigators note that he has a teardrop tattoo beneath his eye and a rifle tattoo on his neck.

González, known online by the nickname “Chubby,” was the youngest of three sisters. Her social media profiles reflected a playful personality and a strong spiritual side. In her final TikTok post, she wrote: “My goal is clear: to continue being a good woman, to walk hand in hand with God, and to be a simple and humble woman without harming anyone.”

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement.
