"The woman I wanted to marry back then said I must have two cars,” he recounted. “I couldn’t meet that demand, and the love died.”

Now happily married, Saka described getting married at age 40 as one of his best decisions, though not without its challenges.

The only difference is that I pay school fees with grey hair,” he joked. “Marrying my wife was my best decision ever.”

The truth behind the telecom saga

Saka also set the record straight on his connection with major telecom brands.

People thought I was an Etisalat ambassador, but I was just a model on the centre spread,” he clarified.

He revealed that he had considered working with Glo, but ultimately chose MTN out of caution.

"I wanted to go for Glo, but I was afraid. If I breached the contract, maybe I’d still be in prison today. That one MTN advert changed everything. It took me from being the funny man to a national icon.”

While Saka is known for his comedic persona, he reminded fans that the man behind the character is quite different off stage.

Once I leave the stage or camera, I’m not the same Afeez. I’m a little reserved,” he said.

Saka’s candid reflections reveal the depth of a man who has endured challenges, made wise choices, and remained grounded through it all. His story serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of perseverance, humility, and staying true to oneself.
