Barbadian superstar Rihanna has broken her silence on the heartbreaking loss of her father, Ronald Fenty, who passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 70 following a brief illness.
Speaking publicly for the first time at the Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming Smurfs movie, the singer, actress, and business mogul offered a heartfelt tribute to her late father, sharing how his adventurous spirit shaped her and continues to influence how she raises her children.
“I’ve always wanted that and I’ve always dreamed of what type of grandfather he would be to them because of the favorite parts of my dad,” she said, speaking emotionally about her sons, RZA and Riot.
“I think it prepared me for having two boys.”
Rihanna reflected on her father's daring and free-spirited nature, recalling fondly the traits that made him so vibrant and unforgettable. She emphasized how much of his personality she sees in herself, and how she hopes to pass that same essence on to her children.
“The adventure side of me, the outside side of me, the daredevil, it’s how I want to raise them. I want them to be outside and be in nature,” she added.
