The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a notorious kidnap kingpin, Wasiu Oloyede, in the Odo Pako area of Ota.
According to police sources, Oloyede and his gang were responsible for the recent abduction of a soldier in the Alagbado area of Lagos. During the incident, the gang allegedly dispossessed the victim of his military uniform, identification card, ATM cards, and mobile phone. The abducted soldier, however, managed to escape from captivity under undisclosed circumstances.
In a subsequent development, Oloyede attempted to impersonate military personnel by wearing the stolen uniform. He reportedly tried to overpower a local vigilante member in a bid to seize his dane gun. His attempt was thwarted, and he was immediately apprehended by local security operatives.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command stated that investigations are currently underway to uncover the full extent of Oloyede’s criminal network and bring all accomplices to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies as efforts continue to curb kidnapping and related crimes in the region.
