Khloé Kardashian is getting real about the emotional complexities of co-parenting with her ex and NBA star, Tristan Thompson.
On a new episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, the reality TV star spoke candidly about the ups and downs of raising their children True, 7, and Tatum, 1, while navigating life as separated parents.
While Khloé has previously described their co-parenting relationship as “seamless,” she admitted it’s not always emotionally easy.
“You wanna almost be like, ‘Yeah, she’s my kid!’ But it’s our kid,” she said, recalling a moment when Thompson questioned whether their daughter True’s shorts were too short.
Though she acknowledged that Tristan “wasn’t wrong,” Khloé said the interaction triggered a moment of defensiveness. “That’s an emotional battle I have with myself,” she shared. “I can’t be like, ‘This is my kid.’ I have to allow for Tristan to be the dad, too.”
Khloé explained that she often sends photos to Thompson and gives him context, especially when parenting decisions, like clothing choices, raise concern. She also emphasized the importance of mutual respect in their co-parenting dynamic.
“You still want to let your co-parenter be the parent as much as they want to. And you also have to give them grace, and yourself grace.”
Despite their past, which includes public infidelity and paternity scandals, Khloé said they’ve managed to maintain a healthy parenting partnership.
“Him and I are seamless co-parents. I’m really grateful for that,” she noted. “Tristan trusts me as a mom, so I don’t get a lot of pushback ... he just knows that I’m not going to do anything to harm the kids.”
Khloé and Tristan began dating in 2016. Though their romantic relationship has ended, their commitment to co-parenting remains strong, proving that sometimes, successful co-parenting is possible even after very public challenges.
