"I’m Never Satisfied" — Nollywood Actor Efa Iwara Opens Up About Career Frustrations and Personal Growth
Nollywood star Efa Iwara is speaking candidly about his career, inner struggles, and the pressures of ambition — revealing that, despite his success, he still feels like he's just getting started.
In a heartfelt conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the Men’s Club actor admitted he's far from where he hopes to be professionally.
“No, I am not happy with where my career is,” he confessed.
“I feel like I can do so much more. I feel like there’s so much potential that is untapped. I feel like I can work twice as hard as I’m working now, pending that I don’t break down. I’m just never satisfied, never satisfied.”
Known for his intense screen presence and versatility, Efa said he’s his own biggest critic, constantly pushing the bar and craving the next level of excellence — though he's mindful not to do so at the cost of his mental and physical health.
He also opened up about a lesser-known part of his journey: growing up with a stammer.
“I was born a stammerer,” Efa shared, crediting his older brother for teaching him patience and helping him build confidence.
“He’d tell me, ‘Take your time, breathe, think about what you want to say before you say it.’”
Originally breaking into the entertainment scene as a rapper in the early 2000s, Efa eventually made the shift into acting — a move that’s allowed him to tell deeper stories and connect with audiences in new ways.
Despite his rising profile in Nigeria’s film and TV landscape, Efa says he still has a long way to go. While he's grateful for how far he’s come, he’s not resting yet:
“There’s still a lot of room to grow.”
