Young Manipuri Woman's Life Cut Short in Air India Plane Crash

The family of 21-year-old Nganthoi Sharma Kongbrailatpam, a cabin crew member on the ill-fated Air India flight, plunged into mourning after receiving news of the plane crash. Nganthoi had called her elder sister earlier that day to inform her that she would be flying to London.

Nganthoi joined Air India as an airhostess in 2023, just a teenager at the time. She had recently completed her first semester exam in DM College in Imphal and was living in Mumbai with a group of other young women from Manipur who work in Air India.

Nganthoi's father, Nandesh Kumar Sharma, remembered his daughter as a caring and responsible person who would often surprise them with visits when she had days off work. The last time she visited home was in March this year, when she stayed for just a few days.

The family is still waiting for official confirmation from Air India, and all they know is from news reports and social media. Nganthoi's father expressed his grief and uncertainty, saying, "We knew that she was supposed to be inside that plane. But we have not received any information from Air India or any representative."

Nganthoi's life was cut short in the prime of her youth, leaving behind a family that loved her dearly.
