Jaiprakash Chaudhary, a 20-year-old second-year medical student at BJ Medical College and Hospital, tragically lost his life in the Air India plane crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon. The plane, carrying 242 passengers and crew members, crashed into the hostel building, killing 241 people on board and five people on the ground, including four medical students and a doctor's wife.
Jaiprakash was the first member of his family to attend college, and his death has left his family in shock. According to a family member, Jaiprakash had finished his lunch and was washing his hands when the plane crashed into the hostel building. The flames and debris from the crash resulted in his death.
The crash also claimed the lives of Shubh and Shagun, two siblings from Udaipur, who were on their way to London for a vacation. Shubh had done chemical engineering from London and was planning to visit his friends, while his sister Shagun had decided to tag along.
A video of Khushboo Rajpurohit, a 22-year-old newlywed, went viral, showing her weeping as she bid farewell to her family before boarding the flight. She was on her way to London to join her husband, Vipul Singh, who works there.
The families of the victims are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. The district collector of Barmer, Tina Dabi, paid her respects to Jaiprakash's family, while the relatives of the other victims are waiting for the bodies to be identified and brought home for the funeral.
