Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Plateau State, has died after a brief illness. Lubo reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday at an undisclosed hospital in Jos, following a road accident last week.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Jos confirmed Lubo's death in a condolence message, expressing sympathy to his family, the Plateau State CAN chapter, and the wider religious community. The archdiocesan chancellor, Daniel Gyang, signed the statement, which read: "On a sad note but with total submission to the will of God, we hereby announce the passing unto eternal glory of Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo..."
Until his death, Lubo served as the parish priest of St. William's Parish, Zawan, and was also the dean of Zawan Deanery. His passing has sent shockwaves through the religious community in Plateau State, with many paying tribute to his dedication and service.
The archdiocese prayed for Lubo's soul to rest in peace, saying: "May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
