The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, has seized 1,433 rounds of live ammunition and five Dane guns at various locations across the state. The Area Comptroller, Mr. Godwin Otunla, handed over the seized arms and ammunition to the Nigeria Police Force on June 18, 2025, in Idiroko.
The NCS has intensified surveillance, deployed strategic intelligence, and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies, leading to this remarkable achievement. The command's efforts are aimed at safeguarding national security and promoting economic stability.
The seizure is a significant blow to the smuggling of arms and ammunition in the country. The NCS has also made other notable seizures, including 1,037 parcels of cannabis sativa, 13,125 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and foreign-used vehicles.
The Ogun 1 Area Command has increased its revenue generation from N10,621,250 in April to N42,279,240 in May 2025. The command's efforts to boost revenue collection and prevent smuggling activities are yielding positive results.
