A Kenyan man, David Njoroge Chege, has narrated how his plan to teach his first wife a lesson by marrying a second wife boomeranged on him, leaving him serving a 15-year jail sentence. Njoroge said that due to protracted marital issues with his first wife, he decided to marry a younger second wife, not knowing the plan would backfire on him.
Njoroge said that his second wife ended up becoming troublesome, and they fought over several issues, including his goats and bicycle. She eventually reported him to the police for a crime he insists he did not commit, and he was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment, which was later reduced to 15 years.
With tears in his eyes, Njoroge said, "I only married her because I had issues with my first wife. I decided to marry the second woman so that my first wife would stop being stubborn, but now looking back, I was mistaken." He expressed regret over his decision, which has cost him 15 years of his life.
