A disturbing incident has occurred in the Tukur area of Zaria, Kaduna State, where a woman named Khadija is accused of killing her 11-year-old daughter, Fadila, over a dispute involving ₦100. According to reports, Khadija allegedly beat Fadila with a pestle after accusing her of stealing the money she received during Sallah celebrations.
The incident has sparked outrage in the neighborhood, with some residents refusing to attend Fadila's funeral, citing grave injustice. Neighbors claim that Khadija has a history of physically abusing Fadila, particularly when there's a problem with her hawking. "This is not the first time she has beaten the girl. Whenever there's a problem with her hawking, she beats her like she's not even her child," one woman said.
Khadija's husband, Malam Mustapha Musa, claims he was not at home when the incident occurred and only returned to find out what had happened. Khadija, however, denies intentionally killing her daughter, saying, "Yes, I beat her, but I didn't mean to kill her." The police have taken over the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
