Kaduna Influencer Dadiyata's Tragic Fate Revealed After 6-Year Disappearance

A detailed investigation led by investigative public commentator Damilola Adekunle has confirmed the death of popular social media influencer Abubakar Idris, known as Dadiyata. Dadiyata had been missing for over six years after being abducted at gunpoint from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna State.

Many suspected that Dadiyata's disappearance was politically motivated due to his outspoken criticism of prominent political figures and support for former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance sparked widespread outrage and concern across the country.

Damilola Adekunle announced the confirmation of Dadiyata's death on her Facebook page, stating, "It is with a heavy heart that I announce that after thorough investigations, I can confirm that Idris Abubakar, popularly known as Dadiyata, is officially dead. #Dadiyata was killed." This development comes after Adekunle launched a ₦10 million investigation fund to gather credible information about Dadiyata's disappearance.

Human rights organization Amnesty International Nigeria had consistently called for answers, questioning the Nigerian government's handling of the case and demanding justice. Dadiyata's family and supporters had been left without clear information about his whereabouts or fate since his abduction on August 2, 2019.

Dadiyata's mother, who passed away in 2022 while he was still missing, had been tirelessly seeking justice for her son. The confirmation of his death raises questions about the government's accountability in handling cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
