Authorities allege that Soriano and his brother, 34-year-old Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, killed 30-year-old Fraime Ubaldo, his partner 26-year-old Marangely Moreno-Santiago, and their children Evangeline and Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno. Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters described the crime scene as the most horrific he has encountered in his 32-year career. Julio was arrested on September 7 and charged with murder, arson, burglary, and kidnapping. He has pleaded not guilty.
After the killings, Luis Soriano reportedly fled to Puerto Rico and later traveled by boat to the Dominican Republic. His arrest followed close cooperation between U.S. and international law enforcement. “This horrific crime shook our communities to the core,” said U.S. Marshal Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra. “This capture proves our commitment to justice.”
In the wake of the tragedy, neighbors and relatives created a street-side memorial of balloons and stuffed animals. Local residents, like neighbor James Settles, said they are relieved the suspects are in custody but continue to feel the lasting impact of the crime.
