A shocking revelation has emerged about the source behind the investigative report that led to the downfall of former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah. Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has disclosed that the late Yinka Odumakin was the mastermind behind the exposé.
In a video shared by Sahara TV, Sowore revealed that Odumakin was the key source who provided information about Oduah's controversial acquisition of two BMW bulletproof cars for €170,000 each ¹. The luxury vehicles were supposedly purchased for official use but were never made available at any Nigerian airport.
The scandal, which broke in 2013, sparked nationwide outrage after it was revealed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority had procured the cars at an inflated cost. The revelation led to calls for accountability, with various civil society organizations demanding Oduah's resignation. Eventually, she was removed from office in 2014 following intense public pressure.
Odumakin, a former spokesperson of Afenifere and renowned activist, was known for his fearless stance against corruption and injustice. Sowore's disclosure underscores Odumakin's crucial role in holding government officials accountable, even at great personal risk.
This revelation reignites discussions about the importance of investigative journalism and whistleblowers in Nigeria's fight against corruption. It also serves as a reminder of Odumakin's legacy as a relentless advocate for transparency and good governance.
