Just 24 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed for France, Vice President Kashim Shettima has embarked on a diplomatic mission to Senegal. He will be representing President Tinubu at Senegal's 65th Independence Anniversary celebrations in Dakar.
The anniversary, which holds annually on April 4, commemorates Senegal's independence from French colonial rule in 1960. The event is marked with national pride, featuring ceremonies, parades, and cultural events.
VP Shettima's attendance is in response to an invitation extended by Senegalese President Faye Diomaye to President Tinubu, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Senegal.
The Independence Day celebrations will take place at the Place de la Nation in Dakar, with President Faye hosting VP Shettima and other esteemed guests from across Africa and beyond.
This diplomatic visit underscores the importance of Nigeria's relationships with its West African neighbors and the country's commitment to regional cooperation and solidarity.
