A recent attack in Benue State's Otobi community has left seven people dead and over 20 injured, with many homes destroyed. According to Kennedy Angbo, the Member representing Otukpo-Apa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, the attack was premeditated and followed a threatening Facebook post by a local Fulani man, Bashir Adamu.
The Attack
The assault on Otobi community was described as a coordinated, two-pronged invasion, with attackers striking from both flanks. Angbo noted that the attackers' movement into the community indicated a deliberate and organized operation.
Bashir Adamu, a Fulani man born in Otobi and known to rear cattle in nearby Omebe, made a Facebook post warning of an impending attack just 24 hours before the incident. Angbo emphasized that Adamu's connection to the area raises serious security concerns.
The lawmaker expressed deep concern over the attack, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures. The community is calling for justice and urging authorities to investigate the matter further.
